The Importance of a Kitchen Table

This is a totally different blog than usual. I'm normally blogging couples, families, weddings, etc. - Not today!

This may sound silly, but our kitchen table is EXTREMELY important to Trav and I.

We both grew up saying the blessing and eating dinner around a kitchen table. We typically sit down 6 out of 7 nights of the week at our kitchen table to have dinner together or with friends/family. I cherish our time together at the kitchen table so much because its much more than a dinner at a table. It is a central place for us to serve each other and our friends and family, where we unwind after a long day, where we talk about how our days were, where we lay out our budget, where we laugh together, where we play cards with friends, where deep conversations are made, where we pray together, where holidays and birthdays are spent and the list goes on.

We have a leaf we put in our table when friends and family come over, even though our kitchen is tiny and our table is rather large, it is worth it to us. Once you're sitting down together the size of the kitchen doesn't matter because the company trumps that.

Sitting around our kitchen table is probably one of my favorite places to be in our house because memories and good conversation happens around a good kitchen table.

I encourage you to sit down with your spouse and family at least twice a week. Cherish the time spent sitting there, be present with, no phones/devices or tvs, just you and them.
