Dannie + Tyler's Mountain Engagement Session | Virginia Engagement Photography

When Dannie originally inquired about wedding photography, we talked about their engagement photos and she expressed her dream of going back to a place that is near and dear to her and her family's heart, Higher Ground Christian Retreat, and wanting to surprise her momma with these images! (Surprise Ms. Karen!!). I know Dannie and her family from church and actually going to Higher Ground as kids on retreats, so I knew her momma would love this!  So, of course I knew we HAD to make this happen.

Dannie's parents were connected to Higher Ground through their church and ended up going for mission work, after leaving a couple times for mission trips they got married right there at Higher Ground with their close friends and family around. They then lived there for close to a year and eventually moved back "home" to Hampton! They stayed in touch with Higher Ground and would go there often to help with different things. Her parents were such a huge part of Higher Ground, that after her father's passing they dedicated a room to him!

Dannie + Tyler met at their church and through their families being close friends. They have been together since they were 14 and 16. 10 years later and they are finally engaged, he planned a super sweet surprise that ended at Fort Monroe followed by lunch (of course).

Leading up to their engagement session we were super worried about the weather and it raining, it actually ended up being a wind storm but that's better than rain, haha! They pushed through the cold, pretended we were in the Cayman islands and nailed their session! We prayed for sun and that is what we got! Amen!
